Privacy Policy
Onda is a podcast-listening app. This policy explains what data Onda handles and, just as importantly, what it doesn’t.
Summary
Onda does not have a backend server, does not require an account, and does not collect, transmit, or sell any personal data to its developer or any third party. Your subscriptions, playback history, downloads, and transcripts are stored only on your device.
Data stored on your device
Onda uses Apple’s on-device SwiftData storage for everything the app needs to function:
- Podcast subscriptions and episode/chapter metadata
- Playback position and listening history
- Downloaded episode audio files
- Queue and per-show settings
- Transcripts, including any generated by on-device speech transcription
None of this data leaves your device or is visible to the developer. There is no user account, sign-in, or cloud sync.
Data sent to third parties
Because Onda is a podcast client, some requests necessarily go out over the network as part of normal use:
- Podcast search. When you search for a podcast, your search term is sent to Apple’s iTunes Search API to find matching shows. This is Apple’s service, governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
- Podcast feeds and audio. When you subscribe to or play a show, Onda requests that show’s RSS feed and audio files directly from the server the podcast publisher uses to host their show. That publisher (or their hosting provider) may see standard request information (such as your IP address) as it would for any podcast app or web browser. Onda does not add any additional tracking to these requests, and the developer never sees this traffic.
Onda does not use analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs, and does not otherwise transmit your data anywhere else.
On-device transcription
On supported devices, Onda can transcribe downloaded episodes using Apple’s on-device Speech framework. Audio is processed entirely on your device for this feature; it is not uploaded anywhere for transcription.
Data deletion
Since all app data lives only on your device, you can delete it at any time by removing individual downloads/subscriptions in the app, or by deleting the app itself, which removes all associated data.
Children’s privacy
Onda does not knowingly collect data from anyone, including children, because it does not collect personal data in the first place.
Changes to this policy
If Onda’s data practices change, this document will be updated and the “Last updated” date above will reflect the change.
